There's a new moon happening tomorrow, June 25th, that I'm suppeerrr excited to talk about. This is also my FIRST time publicly sharing moon work, so you're getting my authentic "holy shit, I'm actually doing this" energy along with the astrology.
What's the Deal with This New Moon?
This new moon hits Cancer at 6:31 AM EDT (3:31 AM PT for my West Coast people). Cancer energy is like the mom friend of the zodiac - all about nurturing, feelings, and making sure everyone's okay. And honestly, we could all use some of that energy right about now.
Why This One's Special
What makes this new moon interesting is the timing - it's happening just five days after the summer solstice. So we're getting that fresh summer energy mixed with Cancer's deep, emotional intensity. It's like getting motivation with a side of actual self-care for once.
Cancer Energy Breakdown
Cancer is ruled by the moon, so this is basically the moon coming home and getting cozy and comfortable. This energy focuses on:
Home and family - Whether that's your blood family or the people you've chosen who actually get you
Emotional depth - Time to acknowledge those feelings instead of pretending they don't exist
Nurturing - Both giving and receiving care (revolutionary concept, I know)
Security - That deep sense of "I'm actually okay" that's surprisingly hard to find
Intuition - Your gut is about to get really chatty, so maybe listen to it, k?
Perfect Time for Real New Beginnings
New moons are for fresh starts, but this Cancer new moon wants you to start from the heart instead of your usual overthinking spiral. What would you actually do if you weren't worried about looking stupid?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately because I've been pouring my energy into this Substack, and it's wild how different it feels when you're doing something that's actually aligned with who you are. For years, I was chasing work that felt like... well, work. You know that feeling where you're constantly pushing uphill and everything feels forced? Yeah, that.
But this? Writing about astrology, connecting with you all, sharing what I actually care about? It doesn't feel like work even when it's challenging. It feels like I'm finally nurturing something that matters to me instead of just doing what I think I should be doing.
That's peak Cancer energy right there - choosing to tend to what feels authentic instead of what looks impressive on paper.
This is your moment to:
Start that project you've been "thinking about" for way too long
Make your space feel like an actual sanctuary
Deepen your real relationships (not just your follower count)
Set some boundaries that don't make you feel guilty
Trust your instincts for once
The Cosmic Weather Report
This new moon has some solid backup from Jupiter and Mars, which is great. But Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto are being their usual complicated selves, so you might feel super inspired one minute and completely overwhelmed the next.
AKA you're gonna want to start everything at once and then question all your choices. It's giving very "3 AM life evaluation" energy (which I am wayyy to familiar with myself, smh).
How to Work with This Energy
Set intentions that actually matter - Not the Instagram-worthy kind, the real ones
Focus on your foundation - What makes you feel genuinely stable and secure?
Don't ignore your feelings - They're not going anywhere, might as well deal with them
Be patient with yourself - This is sensitive energy, so treat yourself accordingly
Think long-term - We're planting seeds here, not looking for instant results
Who Gets Hit the Most?
If you have planets in early degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, this new moon is going to hit you right in the feels. Everyone else gets the regular dose of emotional clarity and sudden urges to reorganize their life.
Bottom Line
This Cancer new moon is asking you to slow down and actually tune into what you want to nurture and grow. Not what you think you should want, but what genuinely matters to you.
Look, I'm not saying quit your day job and become a full-time crystal collector (unless that's genuinely your calling, in which case, go off). But maybe it's time to stop forcing yourself into boxes that don't fit and start paying attention to what actually lights you TF up.
For me, that was realizing I'd rather write about moon phases, human design, oracle cards, and planetary drama than chase after opportunities that looked good but felt empty. Sometimes the thing that feels most natural is EXACTLY what you're supposed to be doing.
So on June 25th, take some time to sit with yourself and figure out what deserves your care and attention. Your future self will thank you for starting something real instead of just talking about it.
Card Pull Time (Because Obviously the Moon Has Something to Say)
Quick note: These card pulls are for entertainment and spiritual guidance purposes only. I'm not a licensed therapist, financial advisor, or medical professional. Use your own judgment and seek professional help for serious life decisions.
I pulled 6 cards using my Moonology Oracle Deck because the moon always has opinions, and they usually involve feelings, trust issues, and maybe the need for snacks.
🌙 Reawakening Spread – 6 Card Pull
What emotional truth needs to be honored right now?
“Let it move. Let it shift. Let it breathe.”
Your feelings are real but we aren’t working with permanent contracts here. The emotional truth to honor right now is: we are allowed to change our damn minds. We're allowed to not have it all figured out. This card is giving us permission to be in flux - to feel tender, uncertain, excited, or completely all over the place. We're shifting because we're growing, and that's actually sacred work even when it feels messy as hell.
What are we being asked to heal or release from our past or family roots?
“Are you choosing this from love or from loyalty to old patterns?”
Exhale. This one hits deep. We're being asked to look at those invisible family contracts we never actually signed - the ones that say we have to be the good girl, keep the peace, or sacrifice ourselves to keep everyone else comfortable. The old programming whispers "don't rock the boat." This card says "psst…test the water anyway." We're healing our habit of abandoning ourselves to make others feel better. This is our time to commit to our own healing instead of committing to old patterns that don't serve us.
What seed are we planting in our home, heart, or family life?
“It’s happening. Even if it’s invisible. Keep going. Don’t quit before the miracle”
The seeds we are planting = faith in emotional progress. There is no need to wait for proof because we are being asked to TRUST that energy being our intention is building. And it’s building beautifully. Even the small stuff – the boundaries, the pauses, the deep breaths – are all sacred architecture for the life you're building. It's happening, even when it feels invisible.
What truth about our gifts is ready to emerge?
“You’re allowed to believe in your own magic.”
This is our cosmic wink. The truth is: you are lucky, magical, and wise AF — and your gifts are meant to expand. You’re not here to play small, stay safe, or dim your light for ANNNYYYONEEE. Say yes to the version of you that feels bigger than what you’ve known so far.
What support do we need to actually feel safe enough to grow?
“It’s okay to need help. You don’t have to do this alone.”
You don't have to do this alone, and pretending you can is just getting in your way. Ego wants to rise up but we can’t build emotional safety on top of it. It’s okay to ask for help and it’s okay to live and walk in your truth. Let people see it all unfold in real time.
What message does Spirit want us to carry into our week and our work?
“You don’t have to carry the weight of a former version of yourself.”
We are shedding our old skin, metaphorically. Old identities, old pressure, old stories that say “I’m not ready” “I’m not good enough” – ALLL of that doesn’t have to come with us. Let. That. Shit. Go. This Cancer new moon is your rebirth, but you've got to let the old skin fall off first. Release what your nervous system was never meant to hold.
TLDR: This week’s Cancer New Moon isn't here to make things pretty - it's here to crack us open so we can find safety in our own truth again.
The message is:
“It’s okay to be in transition”
“You’re healing old family patterns that taught you love = self-sacrifice”
“You’re allowed to believe that your magic is worth expanding”
“There is no shame in asking for support”
“And it’s time to release what your nervous system was never meant to hold”
P.S. I’m using my favorite deck, the Moonology Oracle Deck by Yasmin Boland. If you’re curious or want to pull along with me, here’s the link to the one I use!
Moon-Charged Journal Prompts (AKA Soul Therapy on Paper)
If you want to journal with this moon energy (or just stare into space and think about journaling, which honestly counts too) here are some questions to get things moving in your emotional attic:
What does "feeling safe" actually look like in my life right now?
Where am I pretending to be fine when I'm actually exhausted/sad/over it?
What do I need to ask for - support-wise, space-wise, spirit-wise - that I've been avoiding?
If I were allowed to start fresh without shame, what would I do differently?
Let's Be Weird & Honest Together
If this reading hits something in you - a nerve, a truth, a "holy shit that's me" moment - I'd love to hear it. Drop a comment, reply with your own card pull, or tell me what this moon is teaching you.
And if you're navigating this cycle as a mother, creator, or spiritual human barely holding it together: I see you. I am you. Let's keep going…a little softly, a little bravely, and maybe a little witchy.
I’ll be opening up private card readings soon (yay!) If you’ve been feeling the pull, make sure you’re subscribed so you get first dibs when bookings open.
As a Cancer (moon child) sun sign and ascendant, I really appreciate your write-up, especially your actionable bullet points! Time to get to work (AND take a nap). :)
